What is Pilates?

Pilates is a system of over 500 controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the total body. It is a balanced blend of strength and flexibility training that improves posture, reduces stress and creates long, lean muscles without bulking up. At Pilates Center by Bernadette, we teach the authentic works of Joseph H. Pilates.

What is the difference between Classical Pilates and other forms of Pilates?

Classical Pilates, which is what we teach at the Pilates Center, is the purest form and is based directly on Joseph H. Pilates’ authentic teachings as taught to us by Romana Kryzanowska, who started as a student of Joseph H. Pilates.  Unlike other forms of Pilates, which rely on gimmicks, we teach you the exercises in the same way as intended by Joseph H. Pilates and on the same equipment that he invented.

We like to refer to the 10-20-30 principle of Joseph Pilates. He stated that in 10 sessions you will notice a difference in your body. In 20 sessions you and others will notice valuable results. In 30 sessions, you will have a whole new body.
